In June, we were honored to receive a generous grant from the Eshelman Foundation ( https://eshelmanfoundation.org/index.php). Established in 2008, this Wilmington-based private family foundation is dedicated to improving the lives of children through investments in health care and education. Their commitment to the well-being of children reflects a belief that they are the future of our communities.
Thanks to the Eshelman Foundation’s generosity, we are able to provide essential items for families with young children, including car seats, strollers, and children’s clothing. These necessities not only ease financial burdens but also help ensure that children are safe, healthy, and well cared for.
The grant has also enabled us to create beautiful layette sets for expectant and new mothers. Each set is thoughtfully assembled with many of the essentials needed to welcome a new baby, including diapers, onesies, bottles, pacifiers, baby wash, towels, and other necessities. Our dedicated children’s clothing volunteers lovingly prepare each layette in blue, pink, or yellow, adding a special personal touch.
For many first-time mothers, receiving one of these layette sets is both a practical gift and an encouraging reminder that they are not alone. Watching their faces light up as they realize they have the items needed to begin caring for their newborn is a joyful moment for our guests and volunteers.
